Castaic Middle School: Students Castaic Middle School strives to meet the needs of its diverse student population. The richness of the student body is reflected in the mix of cultures, languages, religions, and ethnicities blending together in all classes and programs offered at this site and includes a student population which is 68% Caucasian, 22% Hispanic/Latino, 5% Filipino, 3% African American/Black and 2% other. The percentage of students eligible for free or reduced-priced lunch is 14%.
Providing opportunities to all students is a key to the outstanding environment students find at Castaic Middle School. Students attending this school find themselves in heterogeneously grouped classes with equal access to stimulating, thought-provoking activities, which challenge them in many different ways.
At CMS students are involved in a wide array of extra-curricular activities and receive recognition for a range of achievements. It is a place where students with problems can find help and support and where every student is expected to become an effective communicator, independent and collaborative thinker, ethical and knowledgeable citizen respectful of differences among people, and aware of their own health and self esteem.
Decision-making is student centered, reflecting high standards for all students. At CMS, students are encouraged to take risks, to reach and try new things. Student health and well-being, self-discipline, and accountability are also nurtured throughout the campus. Students at Castaic Middle School enjoy the support of their parents and community, and a faculty that is committed to the success and development of each student. |
