John Glenn Middle School of International Studies: Principal Jean Carroll
At the University of Kansas , Jean Carroll earned her bachelor's of arts degree in French and political science and graduated Phi Beta Kappa. Most recently, she earned her master's of arts degree in educational administration from California State University , San Bernardino . Ms. Carroll's educational experiences span the state of California . For seven years, she taught French, Spanish, and English as a Second Language (ESL) at the middle school level in the Fresno area. While there, she learned a great deal about collaboration styles and the basics of professional learning communities. She then expanded her professional experience in a teaching position at Indio High School in the Coachella Valley , where her knowledge of PLC's and effective collaboration techniques quickly moved her into leadership positions as the head of the world language department and Renaissance program coordinator. If you were to ask Jean what her core belief is as an educator, she would say that she believes that every child is important. She believes it is a school's responsibility to make sure all children know they are valued by providing programs, opportunities, and staff members to foster their educational and personal growth. Also are important are the systems, support and care that help students find success. Ms. Carroll takes a very active role in making sure that John Glenn Middle School continues to walk the walk, not just talk the talk when it comes to valuing each and every child.
