Medea Creek Middle
School: Students
Medea Creek Middle School has a relatively homogeneous student population in grades six through eight that is 95% Caucasian, with the remaining 13% representing a spectrum of culturally and linguistically diverse ethnicities. A small percentage of students qualifies for free or reduced-price lunch or speaks English as a second language. The students represent a wide variety of subgroups, backgrounds, experiences and needs. The GATE program reaches 17 percent of students; GATE participants are clustered in heterogeneous classes. Twelve percent of students are in the special education program, which offers a continuum of services from pull-out to monitor with an emphasis on full inclusion. Differentiation of instruction is a high priority in all classes to help pupils achieve to their potential.
