There is one traditional high school, one continuation high school, nine elementary schools and an extensive adult education program. The teachers at Rancho Milpitas Middle School have worked to create community partnerships. Teachers have received grants and awards from the local Wal-Mart, Hewlett-Packard, and National Semi-Conductors. The local Outback Steakhouse feeds the entire faculty during the student-led conferences each February. Also, the City of Milpitas provides the school with a full-time resource officer who teaches the DARE curriculum. Rancho has an active PTSA and school site council. An offshoot of the PTSA is the Dads' Club. Members of the Dads' Club chaperone the dances, help with campus clean-up activities, and barbeque at after-school functions. Another parent group is the Latino Parent Potluck Club. Members of the Latino Student Union and their teachers decided to get parents involved by “hosting” monthly potluck dinners. |
