Rancho Milpitas Middle School : Students

The demographics of Rancho Milpitas Middle School mirror the demographics of the City of Milpitas . The school's student population is made up of approximately 690 students in the seventh and eighth grades. The school's demographic profile is 35% Asian, 27% Latino, 19% Filipino, 14% White, and 5% African-American.

Students attending Rancho are members of one of five academic teams. There are two seventh grade teams, two eighth grade teams and one team for English language learners. Students take the core classes of language arts, math, science and social science. Every student participates in physical education and one elective. Some students rotate through an elective wheel, changing classes every twelve weeks, while others choose yearlong electives.

Students are able to participate in a wide range of extra-curricular activities. They may participate in sports (such as basketball, soccer, track, volleyball and cross country), after-school clubs, or the newspaper staff, yearbook staff and student government. Students who are members of the chorus perform at a variety of district functions. The students in the drama club recently won a first place for their performances of Los Vendidos.
