McKinleyville Middle School Principal: Anne Hartline

Although she is a new administrator, Anne Hartline has spent fifteen years at McKinleyville Middle School as both an 8 th and a 6 th grade teacher. She received her bachelor's degree in Biological Science from Oregon State University and worked for a number of years for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and Pacific Gas &Electric Co. before turning her focus onto education.

In the early 1990s Anne's career took a major turn when she earned a Master's Degree in Educational Leadership from St. Mary's College, followed by a multiple subject credential, and a single subject credential in Life Sciences from Humboldt State University. In 1992 she was hired as a Core teacher (integrated reading, writing and social studies) at McKinleyville Middle School , and she has remained there ever since. Along the way she earned National Board Certification in Early Adolescent Language Arts, a Second Master's Degree in Teaching American History, GATE certification and a Reading Specialist Certificate.

In 2006, Anne made the step into administration and became principal of McKinleyville Middle School . Professionally, Anne Hartline is dedicated to continuing the strong tradition of academic excellence, innovative and developmentally responsive programs, and strong staff collaboration that are the hallmarks of this outstanding school.

Anne live in Bayside, California , with her husband and pets. Her son and daughter-in-law live in Stamford , CT and she is the proud grandmother of two perfect granddaughters. This year Anne was the Co-President of the League of Women Voters of Humboldt County, an organization in which she has been active for many years.
