McKinleyville Middle School: Schedule

At each grade level, students have a core class in which they spend three periods of their academic day studying reading, language arts, and social studies with the same teacher. This Core teacher allows teachers and students to develop a personal relationship and connect with one other. The rest of a student's day is departmentalized. Students have one period each of math, science, PE and an elective. Seventh- and eighth-grade electives include band, art, Spanish, yearbook/print media, technology, student teaching assistant and academic support. Sixth-grade students are enrolled in a “selective,” titled Building Skills for Success. The academic support class is an elective/selective option for students needing additional support.
