Canyon Middle School: Community Canyon Middle School is located in Castro Valley, an unincorporated suburb of Oakland with beautiful rolling hills and canyons, mild winters and pleasant summers. Across the bay from San Francisco and just south of the city of Oakland, Castro Valley is a richly diverse community of over 65,000 residents with neighborly appeal. Education, health, social services, retail, administration and waste management are the main providers of employment in the area. Canyon Middle School, the home of the Condors, sits atop a hill overlooking Castro Valley and serves students in grades six through eight. Canyon has incredibly strong community support, which is evident by the passage of three separate facility bonds totaling $1,113,000. Canyon, previously a high school site, has just undergone phase three of a four-phase remodeling of all campus buildings. The current facilities were built in 1963. A custodial staff maintains a clean and safe facility in an effort to create a more pleasant learning environment. Canyon Middle School is one of two middle schools in Castro Valley Unified School District. Castro Valley Unified School District serves 8,251 students, and includes nine elementary schools, two middle schools, two high schools, an alternative high school and an adult school program. |
